LOCAL SOLDIER'S DEATH IN FRANCE.
He Mrs. Goodwin, 21 and 23, Water Street, Bollington, has received a letter from the Chaplain of the Regiment informing her of the death in France of her son, Private George William Goodwin, King's Liverpool Regiment. The communication states:- "It is with deep regret I have to convey to you the sad news that your boy passed into the higher life yesterday (June 29th), fell whilst doing his duty as many others have done. I deeply sympathise with you in the great loss you have sustained. He was a splendid lad, and he has passed into the Eternal Presence free from all pain and sorrow. My heart goes out in prayer for you, his mother, for yours is the loss and sorrow. We laid his body to rest this afternoon in the little cemetery near here, and his comrades are erecting a cross to his memory. The son you loved is not lost to you; he is waiting a little while until you again meet him above."
